What '$7' fries reveal about the economy

After a visit to McDonalds and buying a burger and fries it will be a challenge to convince me that the economy is good—and getting better(???)!—no sir, it just does not compute—I also visited Von's and bought grocries—I am in shock—need medication!

Which is what?
I (ctz), still have a cold hanging on—a lot of mucus problems and constantly also nasal infection maybe.
Generative AI is experimentalLearn more
"Mucus" is a noun that refers to the thick, slippery substance that coats the cells and glands of mucous membranes. "Mucous" is an adjective that means something contains, produces, or secretes mucus. For example, the linings in your body that secrete mucus are mucous membranes.
Phlegm is a specific type of mucus that originates in your lungs and throat. It's slightly thicker than the mucus that's produced in your nose and sinuses. Another name for phlegm is sputum.

How do I get rid of phlegm?
How do I get rid of phlegm naturally?

There is much I do not know how to do in setting up a web-page for information and presentations—applying rigorous honesty there is much I do not know about EVERYTHING. Certainly a sad revelation from my perspective but one I must constantly find a way to live with. I can handle it—and while I do reveal it in an intended to be humorous vein I have to face up to reality and admit it is true.

If one allowed such a revelation to control one going forward it could cause many problems—for sure—to assume the very least. For me—fortunately—I believe—I realized that I did not know nearly what I had once arbored beliefs that I did. That was—as I came to believe—perhaps the greatest learning event of my life time. With  came withe the revelation—once accepted—came an even greater belief for me. That is a belief concerning possessions. I came to believe that one—for sure me—had never really owned anything in my lifetime—I had used many things and thought that they were mine—some of those things were people—human beings—with their own names and everything.

I love and miss Bennie every day. I think of him often.

Today is my daughters birthday—I wish for her a fantastic and wonderful day with many great events going forward.

Tuesday, January 09, 2024

It was 320 days ago (February 23, 2023) that my my best friend—a 17-year old Maltese passed—I still think of him ever day—often.

Everything keeps changing—I guess that is an important lesson to learn about life. It is to me anyway as there is so much that I don't understand—today—that I once thought I knew all about it. How wrong I was. Sometimes this can be a bit unsettling until I realize it is but another thing I must accept and that I have the ability to change my attitude. Despite all the setbacks and revelations—this is indeed a great life and I am truly grateful that I was and am blessed with the gift of life. For all that and much more I thank God.

Once I had dreams of maintaining a website that was useful for at least some folks—that thought or dream as it was has eluded me because i simply did not try hard enough. Oh—yes—if I am not careful I will attempt to make excuses for my failure while the truth—as most usually it is—it is just one more thing that I alone am responsible for. There are many things I would prefer not to admit at times but again the truth is that I am responsible—if not wholly then at the very least partially. Let me add though that while I have come to believe that everything that happens in my life I am partially responsible for such belief is a personal thing and I am not saying anyone else should accept my belief. I will say though that I have found great value in that belief.

I have a bit more to say along this plane but for right now I have ran out of time and I hope to have a bit more tomorrow.

Thursday, October 12, 2023

It was 231 days ago (February 23, 2023) that my my best friend—a 17-year old Maltese passed—I still think of him ever day—often.

Yesterday—I was visiting with a friend—a year ago he lost his spouse of some sixty-four years—we were discussing some of the differences (nicest word I can think of) that accompany these advanced years—he being born in 1937 and I in 1938 both over eight-five and not necessarily happy with all the accompanying baggage—so to speak—still grateful to be somewhat able to navigate around on our own.

One subject we mentioned is how many lessons of life we may have missed or ignored. How any situation can actually be different than what we may at first think them to be. Some lessons we have experienced along the way may have been learned while many will be forgotten. We were discussing how difficult it often is to recall—and make use of. I became aware of—once again—that there is just one heck of a lot that I do not know!

The reality is that many things have changed and more things will change. Along with these changes comes new challenges as well as new opportunities. Often, both challenge and opportunity may be disguised or hidden. We must look—be aware and willing to seek answers—and to then investigate as well as we can the validity of these answers. Understanding that many—if not most—things are not as they may first appear OR AS INTENDED because as I believe to be a truism" everybody lies". Mark Twain reportedly—according to (good-reads)—said that. There can be little reasonable doubt that Mark Twain had heard or read about someone else making the same statement some time prior. Most, if not all of us has heard many quotes of various sayings and often these "quotes/words" will be attributed to the current speaker—but it is my belief that in our age an original quote or set of words may be well impossible although it may not be possible to prove the origin.

Certainly it is a possibility that some things can be ambiguous with an absence of malicious intent. More often though—it is my belief—that many (humans) are willing to say or—portend validation—of anything that falls within their particular realm of their wanting things to be. Then follows the arguments put forth by excuse givers—that some people do not know the difference between right and wrong—Duh h???—that being an attribute—knowing the difference between right and wrong—I happen to believe everyone is born with—of course that statement— would then necessarily require some qualifying attributes of birth.

Finally I have made it back to the update area to post two days in succession. There may be little value in the post but it is here anyway.

I did have some things I wanted to mention here today but circumstances have caused me to think differently and so it will be this very short non-informative post for this session.

Saturday, September 30, 2023

Both my wife and I have achieved an age that we would just as soon not be keen about advertising but it would be remiss for me to post today without acknowledging that yesterday, September 29, was her birthday and I think it was a happy day for her. Her son, Shawn was able to visit and that always makes her feel good. She probably knows what the number is (age--year born--???) but all I am allowed to say is— that it's less than eighty!

It has been 219 Days—seven months and eight days since I lost my best friend—a seventeen year old Maltese named Bennie—he was a great companion and friend and I love him and miss him more than my words can convey.

The new puppy that my granddaughter brought me—Otto is doing well—and I do love him but he is not Bennie..

The world appears to have endured a lot of tragic events since my last posting—the war in Ukraine wages on—terrible—terrible! The political scene in the United States is much worse as far as bipartisan working of congress seems. There is a major strike involving the UAW and the Auto Industry in America while a long-lasting strike in Hollywood seemed to have finally been settled.

I am not up to speed by any means and I hope to begin working on this page again on a daily basis and if not daily then at least trying to do something every several days.

Dianne Feinstein, Senator from California, and the longest and Oldest serving female Senator in the United States Senate (1992-2023), passed away yesterday at age 90. She had been battling the effects of "Shingles" (the disease related to and or comes from the same virus (VZV) that causes "chickenpox") for several months. Shingles is a disease I have personally seen have serious effects on members of my family and one that I think would be very wise for everyone to do all they can to avoid.

Wednesday, June 28, 2023

It has been four months and five days since I lost my best friend—a seventeen year old Maltese named Bennie—he was a great companion and friend and I love him and miss him more than my words can convey.

My great-granddaughter—Alexa—insisted on bringing me a replacement almost immediately—three days later on Sunday she arrived with a little orphaned and twice abandoned little Maltese-Shiatsu mix that looked quite similar to Bennie. I did not think I was really ready to have another pet but I could not resist and this new little guy—Otto—is trying very hard to help me in every way he can. It is amazing. He is not Bennie—but he tries very hard and he is a good guy.

The world goes on and many things have happened recently. I am not prepared to get into much—anything—right now but I do want to try to get this document and website up and running right away.

Nancy Pelosi & her Superb Leadership will very difficult to match I fear.

By now everyone has seen the venom and revenge the GOP and the likes of Jordon and others similar to him plan to extort on the American People—Congratulations to those of you who let this happen and I truly pray that these efforts will somehow be overcome by the wiser of the GOP Representatives that surely exist with the courage to do the right thing as have Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger has so courageously exhibited. Of course the Committee will be expunged by the new leading party but again I pray and do believe this courageous committee has met the challenge and will somehow continue some of its work perhaps with a similar Senate committee as well as familiar assistants and legal aides that were nor elected officials that have so valiantly assisted the committee.

As much as I personally dislike McCarthy I pray this guy can somehow try to do the right thing but I sure would not hold my breath on that desire.

Election results are pretty well called as of today

Fortunately there was no Red Wave and the Democrats have retained control of the Senate even though haphazardly with the still inclusion of Senima and Manchin and that is hardly control.

It appears that the GOP will control the house by 221 +/- 2 over the Democrats 115.

August 18, 2022

GOP most perplexing situation I ever recall encountering.

It is now 10 days past the last post here and I have been covered with issues for sure but I will make no attempt to mollify those here.

The thug who occupied the white house for four long years continues to be a Houdini of sorts. Evidenced by his massive mailings asking donors to help him—for the good of America—to attack the FBI that conducted a "rigged"—search of his seemingly current residence—Mar-a-Lago—in an effort to recover the remaining contents of the truck loads of stolen documents from the American people when he was kicked out of the White House. Documents that both he and his gang had sworn had been returned and were not at mar lago! Strange though it seems another truckload of the disappearing documents were found and recovered and hauled back to where they belong. Of course—the big lying thug—convinces his followers that those were his documents—someone didn't remember the indoctrination and agreement regarding rules of his "employment"—of course!

There will be no effort to educate non-believers in this site because I have come to believe that it is a total waste of my time—I will say though that there is strong suspicion by many that the "thug" has never been proven to have told the truth about anything. Yet millions pour money to his defense of his miserable lies and blatant disregard for the people of this country and in particular our weakened democracy.

This story is far from over and it is already proving to claim many casualties along the way. Alas!

Disgusting

August 8, 2022

GOP most perplexing situation I ever recall encountering.

Only a brief recount of what I observed today while watching some old WW2 films on You-Tube.

Recently I lamented to how perplexed I have been over the current political environment. After watching these clips of Nazi Germany it becomes even more frustrating! How can the people of America be so naive to buy into all the bullshit that is being spread by the GOP Senate the worst of all and the many smaller racist groups that have cropped up OR in many cases been here all along as fledging groups of the KKK? Wake to hell up! All of these people are chicken shits that refuse to bear any responsibility for what has happened in this country from its very beginning and someone as cleaver as this Trump asshole comes along and just blatantly steps all over our democracy—such that it ever was to begin with. Compound that with the likes of McConnell, Graham, McCarthy and Green, Grassley, Kennedy and the creep Paul just to name a few of the worst and then have constituents that either cannot see or do not care but seemingly—BLINDLY—continue to support that crap is a cancer our system may not be able to overcome.

Ukraine

Zelenskyy: 'Countries Have To Be Worried' About Putin Possibly Using Nuclear Weapons

For my part, I try to avoid use of the evil perpetrators name, the single most responsible person for the invasion of Ukraine and the blatant pre-meditated outright evile act of mass-murder on innocent citizens and particularily the young children who cannot defend themselves. None-the-less the ravaging of Ukraine continues into the 52nd day. Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, marking a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which began in 2014 following the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity.

The United States under the direction and leadership of President Biden has done much to aid and assist Ukraine but in my mind it falls short of what is really needed in this dire situation. I think the U.S. and the World and particularly NATO are falling way short of what should have already been done and had they performed to the degree I believe only logical the entire situation may well have been over shortly after the start—more importantly—had we and they performed properly perhaps it would never have began. Now, none of that thought matters—it is simply too late—and a full scale Nuclear war is well in the mix today I believe.

Interested in a time-line(???) this is one—from Reuters—very informative.

I am falling short of criticizing President Biden—I think he has done all he feels he can in light of the extreme adversarial GOP elements he faces within the government. In my mind the GOP is directly responsible for most if not all the problems in the United States right now. Sure—there are some good honest republicans—they stay well hidden and I have no clue where to find them—I surely cannot think of one—at the moment—even though I am sure I could come up with one or two if really pressed. Problem is they cannot remain part of a dissolving ideal—surely it is okay to be conservative as long as one remains reasonable and is willing to work for ideology and most importantly remains loyal—and works to retain the principal(s) of democracy.

USA, NATO and UN

Yesterday I came down a little heavy on my government and I do not intend to do that! I believe President Biden has done a good job of supporting Ukraine but the "fall-short" area still exists in that we need to do more! The right thing is not a simple task considering the group of GOP politicians that we currently have in the government. No matter—President Harry Truman said the buck stops here—and indeed it does—at least for Democrats.

I am a Democrat today and will be forever more—I was a Republican for the major part of my life until a man name Nixon became President—put the pieces together and evaluate the men since then and I see no other way. For sure the Democrats have not been perfect—neither have you or I.

Perfection is probably a figment—certainly when more than one individual is involved—and still we tend to use it as a barometer.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a War Crime by any definition and the world is obliged to stop it—not extend it—stop it! Unfortunately—the world does not know how. The way is not easy or well defined. Yesterday a man stepped up—Boris Johnson the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom went into a war torn country and offered support and gave assistance—many "kudos" for Boris—the man stepped up!

UKRAINE:

The gross—deplorable—unwarranted—against ALL reasonable laws of mankind—murder of innocent peoples of an independent nation—Genocide by any definition I am aware of—continues at the direction of a man and country—exponentially—and that should be impossible in this day and age—more despicable and evil than Hitler and Germany were at the peak of their Genocide and EVIL scar upon this world that we are all a part of! I apologize for calling that awful person a "man" because that person is no part of a man—it is but an evil abomination of something that should not live on this earth! Upset? I am so very upset! AND this civilized world stands by—throws pieces—of so called "aid & assistance" in the form of more ammunition a few trucks a tank now and again a couple of shotgun—more money—many politicians answer to everything—MAYBE—WHILE thinking maybe we should give them a plane or two—but what if that guy finds out—he might get mad at me—wake up dummies—he will be coming after you and me next if he gets away with this depraved—vile—base—aggression in Ukraine—a country that contains many-many people related to the Russian people and very likely some of his on bloodline! Hello World Wake FRiggen UP!

Maybe I am a bit over expressive but I know of no other response in light of what is going on. Me, as one individual of advanced years cannot do a whole lot to help those poor people. I take a plane and get to the border in Poland and then do what??? I am not allowed to take any weapons with me so what are my options then??? TOO—those soldiers are bad—at least many of them—but it is the prick that sent them I want and I would gladly give my all to see that dude burn! That's not going to happen! STILL—Where to hell is my government—the NATO—UN—oh! forgot—sanctions—BAD BOY! you better quit that stuff—DUH? Give me a break! We can't do this—we can't do that—we don't want to make the prick mad—mercy—he might say bad things—uh—more bad things about me! Let me tell you something I learned many years ago—"can't"—can't do anything! It would be far more effective to have used the proper adjectives—as they were sternly admonished upon me—many years ago—you can likely imagine what they were—but for some reason or another we won't embellish them here.

I have a surveillance camera operating—it is a Boavision HD22M102M. This IP Camera was delivered new on May 25,2021. The camera mentioned in the last post is a Sricam we had had for several years that proved to be inoperable. Now I know a little—very little—more about the entire surveillance situation and there are several aspects that must be addressed in order to have a useful and functionally system. The one I have installed now—Boavision Model number HD22M102M—is a good camera that is multinational but it does not do what I want and have learned is vital to an effective system. Therefore this will be an ongoing challenge for the present.

I have a Ford F-150 pickup that has the Microsoft Sync software on the Navigation system and I am having difficulties determining what version of Sync I have. The Ford support page gives pictures that they say you can identify to or with but none are precisely like my system so I am at a temporary hard spot.

It is with deep despair and sadness that my Great-Granddaughter passed away recently. Hannah Gabrielle Van Pelt--July 18, 2003-April 10, 2021. So sad that Hannah was not able to enjoy more of life here on earth as her time here was far to short. Condolences to her mother, Mary, Father Rod and Brother R.J. as well as her many other relatives and friends. You Tube "re: Hannah". RIP Hannah.

To help Rod and Mary there is also a "go fund me" web page.

Also, My longtime good friend, Alan Mann Weatherford's long battle with cancer has ended and I pray that he rest in peace--Alan was 74 years old and unlike Hannah he did enjoy a good long run here on earth and I know he did enjoy it and he was expecting and prepared to go on to the next dimension. RIP Alan.

My attempt to change my site format is still in the works.

I have tried to keep this site Anti-Political—that is going to change—there are serious attacks on democracy happening much to frequently and strongly—I refuse to watch it happen without attempting to interfere and try to reach those who are unaware of the attacks. Right now I simply do not know what or how and if anyone happens to see this and would be willing to join in I would certainly like to communicate with them! I do hope there are some who will join me and collectively create an effective platform from which we can pursue these perceived goals.

Judy and I did get our second vaccine some 18 or 19 days following the initial one—and to that initial one I thank Bud—Jim Webb—for calling and sharing the phone number to get the appointment. Bud got the information from his son-in-law Glen Kichler married to Jim and Linda's daughter Denise—and he works at Marian and this was a bit of a head start for us in that we both reside in San Luis Obispo County—always a little bit behind Santa Barbara County with important or detailed problems. At any rate we are grateful and I hope I have already thanked him. Actually the 2nd vaccine was on February 11, 2021 following the initial vaccine on January 23, 2021—the Pfizer-BioNTech—first dose lot EN5318 and second dose lot EN9581. Our experience was at the Marian Hospital facility setup in the parking lot directly behind the Veterans Administration Health Clinic in Santa Maria, CA. and was perfectly administrated with highly efficient practitioners and personnel all of whom were extremely pleasant.

Covid is not giving much room—there is no indication that it will roll over anytime soon. Judy and I was very fortunate to get our first vaccination shot last Saturday—January 23. We received the Pfizer vaccine and it is twenty-one day waiting period to receive the second stage of the vaccine.

Monday, December 7, 2020—December 7, 1941–a date which will live in infamy

At 7:55 a.m. Hawaii time, a Japanese dive bomber bearing the red symbol of the Rising Sun of Japan on its wings appears out of the clouds above the island of Oahu. A swarm of 360 Japanese warplanes followed, descending on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor in a ferocious assault. The surprise attack struck a critical blow against the U.S. Pacific fleet and drew the United States irrevocably into World War II.

Sunday, November 29, 2020—Only one day left in this month

Praying the infections and Deaths will start a rapid downward spiral

News

Thursday, November 26, 2020—Thanksgiving Day

With daily increases in Covid infections and Deaths this is not the best of Thanksgivings

Still, there is much to pray for and to be thankful of.
  • We are told that a vaccine is imminent:
  • From at least two different Drug Makers.
  • Thankful that we are not infected;
  • If we have been (infected)—then thankful we have survived:
  • We pray for all those unfortunate to have lost a family member of friend.
  • Thankful that our country is not in a Huge War.
  • Thankful that our country will be going in a new direction soon.
  • Thankful for the many dedicated and courageous Health Care Providers;
  • Thankful for the many devoted and capable First Responders;
  • Thankful to the men and women of our Armed Forces:

We are not in a world war.

Birthday time: Biden turns 78, will be oldest U.S. president

WASHINGTON -- President-elect Joe Biden turned 78 on Friday. In two months, he'll take the reins of a politically fractured nation facing the worst public health crisis in a century, high unemployment and a reckoning on racial injustice.

Biden is due to be sworn in as the oldest president in the nation’s history, displacing Ronald Reagan, who left the White House in 1989 when he was 77 years and 349 days old.

2020 National Election RUNOFFS

We have won the Presidency even though the incumbent will not concede and is setting about a course of what well may be one of serious consequences to this fledging Democracy.

We have not won the U.S. Senate seat race but at the moment, neither have they. The GOP will be extremely difficult to beat on either of these seats. The left—and the Democracy—really needs both of these seats. Failure to win BOTH seats now will greatly hamper our restoration efforts going forward the next two years. The GOP—it seems to me—are blindly unaware of where they are attempting to lead our country. By blocking—even one of the seats—could very quickly result in very serious consequences to our country and the entire World.    Both Georgia seats seem bound for a January 2121 run-off.  There does not—appear to be—a clear favorite in either race. The good news and reason for hope is that we have many good and highly qualified and dedicated supporters headed to Georgia—today, as we breathe—to assist in what well could be—and I am virtually certain is—"the" most important two-Senate Seats EVER! This is the only chance we have to control the Senate for 2021 and going forward.

We have folks like Andy Yang, moving his family to Georgia to assist; Stacey Abrams, nearly and should have been governor of the State, and she has done a remarkable job and will continue to do so there. James Carville, a native of Georgia who is throwing all his considerable influence and knowledge in the fight and this is only to mention a few. So we do have a chance but it will be a hard uphill battle at best.

I cannot go there (to Georgia), but I can—and I will pray—and I hope millions more join in this effort.

RUNOFF(s)

A second U.S. Senate race in Georgia will go to a January runoff, setting up a showdown for the Senate majority, according to NBC News.

Republican Sen. David Perdue will not break the 50% threshold needed to win outright in this month’s election and will again face Democrat Jon Ossoff next year. Georgia will host two runoffs on January 5, the other being a special election between GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock to finish the remainder of retired Sen. Johnny Isakson’s term.

Republicans have won 50 Senate seats so far, according to NBC. Democrats have flipped one net seat for a total of 48.

Winning both Georgia elections would get them to an even split, giving Vice President-elect Kamala Harris a tie-breaking vote and Democrats unified control of the White House and Congress. Both parties focused their attention and money on Georgia when it became apparent two runoffs would determine Senate control.

Perdue, the first-term senator and former business executive, faced Jon Ossoff, a former journalist who lost a tight, high-profile U.S. House special election in 2017.

Ossoff has criticized Perdue for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, including federal investigations into his stock trading around the start of the U.S. Covid-19 crisis. Meanwhile, Perdue has tried to pin Ossoff as pursuing a “radical socialist agenda.”

The race drew national attention and extensive funding as Democrats hoped to flip the Senate in 2020. Ossoff’s campaign raised more than $32.3 million while Perdue’s campaign collected about $21.1 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Georgia has not elected a Democratic senator since 1996, but a growing young and non-white electorate has helped shift the state into battleground status.

Polling averages suggested a close race between Perdue and Ossoff.

Perdue won his 2014 Senate race by a margin of about 8 percentage points.

2020 National Election

Today we, possibly and hopefully, will be relieved of the tyranny of Donald Trump; destined to be recorded in history as the worst President in American History; additionally I feel he will also rank among the top 10% of worst of all world leaders in recorded history! I pray that this terrible period comes to a close today!

California Wildfires

On August 15th, lightning strikes started hundreds of fires across Northern California. Gov. Gavin Newsom said that California had recorded nearly 11,000 lightning strikes in a 72 hour peroid. Fueled by strong winds and unusually hot weather the fires have continued to spread. There are over 100 fires burning throughout the state and resources and personell are strained to say the least.

We pray that the 12 confirmed deaths do not rise. The property can be replaced but not the lives.

There are now 12 confirmed deaths due to the fires and several missing; well over 3-million acres have burned and there are over 100 known fires spread throughout the state; the Apple fire in Riverside County has been burning since July 31, over 40 days, and consumed over 33,400 acres and is reported 95% contained. The fire reportedly was started by a malfunctioning diesel vehicle. .
Wonder what the total acreage of the United States might be? Just under 2.5 BILLION ACRES.

1776 & 1941

The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. The Fourth of July 2020 is on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

The Covid 19 Pandemic seems to be hanging around even though much of the population is choosing to act as though they are immune. Top immunologist advise this is not good behavior and likely will  result in a much worsening nationwide infection and many more deaths.

Likewise the protest over the George Floyd killing are still active but mostly non-violent.

Tomorrow I hope to be able to post some of the page updates on the website.

Secretariat Performed This Spectacular Display on June 9, 1973

With a spectacular victory at the Belmont Stakes, Secretariat becomes the first horse since Citation in 1948 to win America’s coveted Triple Crown: the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. In one of the finest performances in racing history, Secretariat, ridden by Ron Turcotte, completed the 1.5-mile race in 2 minutes and 24 seconds, a dirt-track record for that distance.

On June 9, 1973, almost 100,000 people came to Belmont Park near New York City to see if “Big Red” would become the first horse in 25 years to win the Triple Crown. Secretariat gave the finest performance of his career in the Belmont Stakes, completing the 1.5-mile race in a record 2 minutes and 24 seconds, knocking nearly three seconds off the track record set by Gallant Man in 1957. He also won by a record 31 lengths.

Ron Turcotte, who jockeyed Secretariat in all but three of his races, claimed that at Belmont he lost control of Secretariat and that the horse sprinted into history on his own accord.

Secretariat would race six more times, winning four and finishing second twice. In November 1973, the “horse of the century” was retired and put to stud at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky. Among his notable offspring is the 1988 Preakness and Belmont winner, Risen Star. Secretariat was euthanized in 1989 after falling ill. An autopsy showed that his heart was two and a half times larger than that of the average horse, which may have contributed to his extraordinary racing abilities. In 1999, ESPN ranked Secretariat No. 35 in its list of the Top 50 North American athletes of the 20th century, the only non-human on the list.

Monday June 1, 2020

Sadly, the "murder" of George Floyd on Monday has sparked nationwide protests and more. Unfortunately, these protests are nearly always accompanied by those who crave violence. It is our fervent hope that these protests can be ended soon and peacefully.

I don't have time to get any of those anchors set today but I am working in that direction.

If one should think ("this person doesn't know wtf they are doing") then you will be correct. Please forgive me. I am no longer very young and many things seem to escape me, neither seeking nor having my consent! Alas!

Even this feeble explanation is likely not needed in that most likely only I shall read it.

I am studying the disease "peripheral neuropathy" because I think I am afflicted with it.

The content I post here is all from other peoples work and I will attempt to always give credit to the originator if known. Additionally, I will post the links to the sites where I acquire the information or intend to do so all the time.

I am also thinking of using this area for bits of information that may have been overlooked in another area of the page.
